Monthly Program Meetings

Monthly program meetings are held at the Bainbridge Public Library located at
1270 Madison Ave N. on the third Friday of every month from 10 AM – noon.

Friday, November 16, 2018 10:00 AM to Noon

Bainbridge Public Library, 1270 Madison Ave N

Topic: Anatomy of a Civil War Pension Record

Speaker: Jill Morelli, President of the Seattle Genealogical Society

Jill Morelli, a Certified Genealogist, and member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, lectures and writes on genealogical topics that often transcend the more narrowly defined family history.  She is a “Roots” genealogist, becoming interested in family history in the 1970’s with the Alex Haley show.  At that time, she just collected “stuff.”  After a hiatus during which she had a family and volunteered in her community, Jill came back to genealogy with a vengeance in February 2002, with a total commitment to “doing it right.”  She attended conferences, institutes and read articles that would improve her skills as a genealogist.  Jill started lecturing on genealogy topics in 2013; however, she is an architect by vocation, working for the University of Washington’s School of Medicine, and has lectured across the country. She has been previously published in local, regional, and national publications.

Mark your calendar for the Holiday Genealogy Fest!

Instead of our monthly meeting in December, we will get together for holiday treats and conversation. Plan on bringing an item for our annual BIGS Family Treasurers Show and Tell. And, don’t forget the Resource Exchange. Bring books, maps, or other resources that you no longer need, but might be helpful to another BIGS member.
